Purpose and gains
The purpose of the PLN is sot stay more connected and organized in my classroom. With this I will have everything I need on a blog and it will be easy for me to follow for a class. From this project I hoped to understand how a blog works and the purpose of one. I will be able to implement this in my classroom as a full semester project. The students can make a weekly post on what they learned and then they can look back on it in their future whenever they want! This would be good to have in a culinary arts class because they can save their favorite recipes on their blogs. I am glad I learned how to use a blog in this class!

My Youtube Playlist is about Cooking. I will use this in one of my culinary arts classes as a way to introduce safety and sanitation in the classroom, what we are cooking, knife skills, and many other videos about cooking. The students will get an overview of what we will be discussing that day and can visit the videos at home, if they have questions.

The SMART Notebook 11 App seems like a great tool to have with a SMART Board in the classroom. The App will give the students a more hands on experience in the classroom. Also the teacher can add things to his or her lesson plans he or she wishes to make the lessons more interesting for the students. The App is also creating widgets in the classroom for more understanding of the topic covered. The SMART Notebook 11 would be a great addition to the classroom to engage students!

The Erase and Reveal in SMART Notebook is about a tool used when drawing on the SMART Board. This tool could be used as a short quiz to hide part of a picture or answer until the students have answered. After they have answered the teacher may reveal the answer by using the erasing tool to reveal the answer. This could be a fun way to engage the students in the classroom!

FACS Blogs
Teachers are using blogs many ways in the classroom today. Blogs can serve as classroom management. The teachers can post handouts, power points, and many other things the students will need for the class on the blog. This will create a more efficient way of getting clear communication through the classroom. The classroom will also be more organized because if students forget their copy of the homework they can go home that day and print off a new one. Blogs will greatly improve the classroom management.
Blogs also allow for students and teachers to discuss things outside of the classroom. This can make the conversation go deeper on the academic level. Every student will have the opportunity to write their opinions where in the classroom you cannot call on every single student on every discussion that you have. With students posting all their thoughts they will learn from each other because what one might think another will have brought up that point and they can learn new points of view. Blogs offer a great deal of discussions.
I could not find a blog from a teacher in the Family and Consumer Sciences field, however, I did find a great blog that would be useful for Family and Consumer Teachers. It is called Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Blog. Family and Consumer Sciences teachers can post on this blog to help each other by posting on this blog to give each other new and interesting information to help make their classrooms better on a daily basis. This would help me in my classroom because I can view resources that other Family and Consumer Sciences teachers are incorporating in their classroom.

PLN #1- My Educational Toolkit
My major is Family and Consumer Sciences Secondary Education. My binder will focus on Culinary Arts for 9th-12th graders. Other classes available in my live binder will be a variety of Family and Consumer classes such as child development, nutrition, home economics, interior design, and sewing. LiveBinders is a great thing to use in the classroom. Parents may find it helpful because you can have links set up to all of your different site they can use to help them succeed in your classes. I was browsing through a few of the other teacher's binders and I saw that many of them uploaded word documents or Powerpoints on their tabs. This would be very helpful in the classroom because students would not have to bring on their papers home with them everyday they could just log on the live binder at home and study for their tests. I believe using live binder in the classroom will make things much easier and students will have less excuses.
